Anxiety Counseling in Vancouver, WA
You’ve always been able to manage, but now your excessive worrying and anxiety are starting to interfere with your life.
Anxious thoughts seem to consume your mind and you find it difficult to engage in your life and relationships. Maybe you’ve stopped doing things you love and instead avoid to find some relief. The constant chatter and dialogue in your head is making it difficult to be present. Or maybe you feel that you’re always waiting for something bad to happen.
Anxiety demands your attention because the “what-ifs” are often ominous and frightening.
While you ruminate about what could happen or go wrong, you find that you’re watching your life pass you by. Your friends, family, or relationships are suffering because you’re just not feeling like yourself. Anxiety can often lead to a sense of “stuck-ness” because of the inherent avoidance that accompanies anxious thinking. And when we feel like we aren’t moving forward, sometimes this invites other symptoms such as depressed mood, irritability, or a sense of hopelessness.
We use a variety of evidence-based treatments to help our client’s understand how anxiety takes hold in our lives and how to interact with anxiety in a more helpful way.
While anxiety is a natural and normal state of emotion, when we understand it better we can learn to work with it instead of against it. Our client’s will learn new ways of engaging and interacting with anxious thoughts and feelings in a more flexible way. When we can do that, we can then be present in our lives the way we intend to.
