Therapy for Major Life Events, Transitions, and Adjustments in Vancouver, Washington.

He says the best way out is always through. And I agree with that, or in so far as I can see no way out but through
— Robert Frost

Whether you had time to prepare or it was unexpected, major life events and transitions are unavoidable.

The odds are that you have experienced a major change in your life, whether it be positive or negative. And while we know that change and transitional periods are a constant part of growing and evolving, it can also be very difficult to adjust, make sense of, and maneuver new changes in our lives.

You’ve likely experienced a variation of emotional discomfort, including overwhelm, fear, grief, increased sadness or irritability.

You may be feeling stuck, not knowing what your next step is. Many people find it difficult to cope with changes in environment or context and subsequently maneuver internal distressing emotions and dialogue. Because we all experience life through our own unique lens, what seems like a major life event, stressor, or transition to one person, may not be to another.

Under the comb, the tangle and the straight path are the same.

We help people who are navigating a major life event, stressor, or transitional period cope and adjust in a way that uniquely fits them.

Over time, our clients experience a sense of integration through these transitional periods in life. They are able to regain a sense of agency through examining unhelpful thinking patterns and develop coping skills that are in line with their values and chosen direction in life.

It takes time to adjust and maneuver to the inevitable changes that life can bring.

Learning new and helpful strategies can help ease the sense of unknownness that most of us feel during these major life events. If you are currently struggling to adjust to a major life event or transition, it may be helpful to talk with a therapist who can offer guidance and support.
